About Dan

I am 72 years old living in Bozeman, Montana with my wife Judy. We have been married for 41 years and have four adult children. Both Judy and I were born and raised in Minnesota. I currently pastor Foothills Fellowship, a small congregation that meets in a log cabin church outside the city limits of Bozeman.

I was raised Catholic. As long as I can remember, it has been my heart to serve the Lord. After graduating from high school I entered the seminary to study to be a priest. Eight years later I was ordained a Roman Catholic priest and served as such for four years. When I realized I could not live that kind of life, I left the priesthood and eventually the Catholic Church.

In 1975, Judy and I married. We moved to Bozeman to run a ski lodge. It was here that I met the pastor of the local Episcopal Church. We became friends and later he asked me to consider becoming an Episcopal priest. Eventually I accepted the invitation and served as an Episcopal priest in Montana and Minnesota.

The Lord was not quite down with me! While pastoring an inner city Episcopal Church in Minneapolis, I became involved in the Charismatic Renewal. It was at this time I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. I gravitated more to the Renewal than the denomination. It was not long before I sensed the need to move on in my walk with the Lord.

By the mid 80's, Judy and I found ourselves back in Montana, planting a non-denominational church in Havre. What a season of life that was. As I look back, I marvel at how we made it. It was a faith walk, living on a small pastor's salary, working part-time in a men's clothing store and raising four children.

After nine years in Havre, the Lord led us back to Minnesota to pastor a large charismatic church. When we arrived, the church was transitioning from the founding pastor to new leadership. It was a difficult season for both the church and myself. During this time, I become acquainted with Ascension Fellowship International (AFI), a non-denominational network of local churches. When I resigned as pastor of the church, I became the administrator of AFI and later as team leader.

In 2003, Judy and I moved back to Bozeman to pastor Foothills Fellowship. Two of our sons and three of our grandchildren live here in Bozeman. Our oldest son lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and our granddaughter. Our daughter lives with her husband in Nashville, Tennessee.

Now you know about me!

  2. Remarkable history, Dan. I have great memories of our long ago canoe trip up into the Boundary Waters of MN, with Walt Cullen, Bob Carlson, Tom Paquette and John Forliti. Good memories like that last a lifetime, thank God. I hope to be able to come out and visit sometime, Inshallah. Be well. I am enjoying reading through your Mangy Moose ponderings.
